The little Story of Ron

Today I want to tell you about my friend Ron.

A few years ago, Ron was getting discouraged. He had a receding
hair line and a bald spot on the crown of his head that was getting
ever larger.

Ron decided to do something about his problem. He found a hair
transplant surgeon with a good reputation and made an appointment.
After consulting with the doctor, Ron scheduled his operation.

First the doctor fixed Ron's bald spot. He cut out a strip of skin
from Ron's scalp, and took hairs from there to implant into the top
of Ron's head. It was quite a bloody affair. Ron was in the
surgeon's chair over 15 hours that day. He had to take two days off
work to recover.

Over the next few months, Ron's bald spot filled in. He felt a lot
better about his looks. The biggest downside was the price- about
$4000 to fix his bald spot, not counting the time off work.

A few months later, Ron went back for another transplant to fill in
his receding hairline. This operation cost about the same as the
first one.

It's too bad I didn't know Ron back then. I could have let him read
the ebook "How To Naturally Regrow Lost Hair in 15 Minutes a Day"
and save himself a lot of pain and money.

If you'd like to deal with your problem for about 1/1000 of what Ron
paid for just one of his two transplants :

Reasons for Grey Hair

One of the most common subjects is gray hair, such as whatcauses it and how to get the original hair color back, so Iwant to address that issue today. Your hair contains a chemical called melanin whichdetermines how dark your hair is. Eventually the level ofmelanin starts dropping and your hair gets lighter.

So grayhair is actually "hair without color." This is the sameconcept as the pigment in your skin which determines howdark it is and makes it darker when you tan. Of course thedifference is that sun exposure will not help with themelanin in your hair. For some people the graying process starts as early astheir late 20s (think of comedian Steve Martin, who doesn'tlook much older now than he did 30 years ago due to goingprematurely gray).

For others this does not happen untilthe 50s or even 60s. So what to do about this, especially if you are turninggray before your time? One common thing people do is dye their hair, which workswell if done right. But it's easy to do it wrong and end upwith hair that is obviously dyed and looks unnatural(especially if your eyebrows or other hair is alreadygray).

It's also messy, and if you aren't careful, the dyewill get on your skin and stain it.An alternative to this is a product called "Youthair". Itcomes in liquid or creme form. The way it works is that itadds a pigment that combines with your hair to restore itcloser to the original color. This looks more natural sinceyour hair does not end up one solid color like jet black. Some people prefer to leave a little gray so it looks morenatural than a dye job.

I don't have any connection with the company that makes it-just search for "Youthair" and you'll find where you can orderit online.I learned about this from an ebook I recently read called"Grooming Secrets for Men." It's full of tips about how toimprove your appearance, look and feel better, make a goodfirst impression, take better care of your skin, hair, andteeth, and improve your overall health.

Does Parasites Cause Hair Loss

Parasites are all around us on everything you touch , hold , eat and drink.
I would say on every object. They are not confined to third world countries; they are all around us. You can easily get them from your pets, dogs , from the grass in your garden or from eating food which someone prepared without washing their hands. Parasites live in your body and eat your food so that your hair does not get the necessary nutrients to thrive.

This is one of the reasons for hair loss. I hope you have understand now. Act fast and start cleaning up your house, pets, objects and others which can cause parasite to live longer. Wash your hands with hot water.

Make up your house at the same time your hair.

Have a great weekend.

Holiday Season

Having a holiday should be a relaxing time for both you and your hair. By following simple holiday tips, you will avoid any hairstyling nightmares and look after your locks while on holiday.

Always remember to protect your color while out in the sun
Tying your hair back will minimize damage

Use protective styling products to keep your hair fly-away free

Fun in the Sun

You should have your color done at least two weeks before going away so that the color will not instantly fade as soon as you hit the sun and surf.
Apply a deep leave in conditioner to your mid lengths and ends if you're out in the sun all day to protect and lock in moisture.
Keep your hair loosely tied back and under a hat. Hair grips and bands are a must have holiday item.
Use a color revival shampoo every other day to keep your hair color bright.
Extreme heat will cause your hair to expand, so to keep the frizz away, use a sun protection serum that will coat your strands and keep them in place.
Water Baby

Wet your hair with water before swimming to prevent too much chlorine and salt being absorbed.
You should always wash and shampoo any chlorine or salt water out of your hair as soon as you can after swimming. To prevent excess moisture from invading your hair shaft, make sure you nourish and seal in your cuticles with a pre-holiday treatment.
Get double use out of your sun-protection spray by making sure you apply it before and after swimming. The UV filters will help to screen out any seawater damage.

Ice Cold

Just because you're not holidaying in the sun doesn't mean your hair is not susceptible to damage.
Cold temperatures will weaken your hair and should be treated as you would when venturing into the sun.
Make sure to coat your hair with a protective serum to keep the elements out and the moisture in.

Keep Away from Relaxers and Dyes

By Michelle Meadows

It's never a good sign when the hairdresser panics. That's what happened to Barbara Cabrera-Avila, 38, when she returned to the salon about six weeks after having her hair straightened a couple of years ago. The cause for alarm: several bald spots in the back of her head.

The Adelphi, Md., resident began having her curls straightened at the age of six so her hair would be easier to comb and style. She says over-processed hair likely played a role in her hair loss, and stress could have been a factor. What's certain is that three dermatologists advised her to take a break from hair straighteners, also known as relaxers.

Barbara says giving up the straight hair she had grown comfortable with wasn't easy. After all, people's personal preferences about how they want to look tie into self-esteem--a fact that makes for good sales in the hair business. In addition to paying for trims and cuts to achieve a certain look, consumers spend millions of dollars each year to get hair that's different from what nature intended--whether it's to tame tight curls, give flat hair a boost, or get rid of the gray.

According to the Food and Drug Administration's Office of Cosmetics and Colors, hair straighteners and hair dyes are among its top consumer complaint areas. Complaints range from hair breakage to symptoms warranting an emergency room visit. Reporting such complaints is voluntary, and the reported problem is often due to incorrect use of a product rather than the product itself. FDA encourages consumers to understand the risks that come with using hair chemicals, and to take a proactive approach in ensuring their proper use. The agency doesn't have authority under the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act to require premarket approval for cosmetics, but it can take action when safety issues surface.

When the Product Is the Problem
When consumers notify FDA of problems with cosmetics, the agency evaluates evidence on a case-by-case basis and determines if follow-up is needed, says Allen Halper, an FDA consumer safety officer. FDA looks for patterns of complaints or unusual or severe reactions. The agency may conduct an investigation, and if the evidence supports regulatory action, FDA may request removal of a cosmetic from the market.

Take the example of two popular hair relaxer products by World Rio Corp.--the Rio Naturalizer System (Neutral Formula) and the Rio Naturalizer System with Color Enhancer (Black/Licorice). After receiving complaints about these products in November and December of 1994, FDA warned the public against using them. Consumers complained of hair loss, scalp irritation, and discolored hair.

In December 1994, the World Rio Corp., Inc. of Los Angeles, Calif., announced that it stopped sales and shipments of the product. But reports indicated that the company continued to take orders, and the California Department of Health also stepped in to stop sales. In January of 1995, the U.S. Attorney's Office in Los Angeles filed a seizure action against these products on behalf of FDA. By then, the agency had received more than 3,000 complaints about the Rio products.

Although most relaxers are alkaline, this product was formulated to be acidic. In the resulting consent decree of condemnation and permanent injunction, FDA alleged that the products were potentially harmful or injurious when used as intended, that they were more acidic than declared in the labeling, and that the labeling described the products as "chemical free" when "allegedly they contained ingredients commonly understood to be 'chemicals.'"

Safer Straightening
FDA has received complaints about scalp irritation and hair breakage related to both lye and "no lye" relaxers. Some consumers falsely assume that compared to lye relaxers, "no lye" relaxers take all the worry out of straightening.

"People may think because it says 'no lye' that it's not caustic," says FDA biologist Lark Lambert. But both types of relaxers contain ingredients that work by breaking chemical bonds of the hair, and both can burn the scalp if used incorrectly. Lye relaxers contain sodium hydroxide as the active ingredient. With "no lye" relaxers, calcium hydroxide and guanidine carbonate are mixed to produce guanidine hydroxide.

Research has shown that this combination in "no lye" relaxers results in less scalp irritation than lye relaxers, but the same safety rules apply for both. They should be used properly, left on no longer than the prescribed time, carefully washed out with neutralizing shampoo, and followed up with regular conditioning. For those who opt to straighten their own hair, it's wise to enlist help simply because not being able to see and reach the top and back of the head makes proper application of the chemical and thorough rinsing more of a challenge.

Beauty Tips - Detangling The Hair Styling Product Confusion by Debrah Dragon

Back in the day you didn't have much of a choice when it came to hair styles, sure they were many types of hair styles back then but if you had for instance straight hair you could only do so much, and get a hair style that suited straight hair. However today you have almost endless possibilities, if you have straight hair you can change it to wavy or curly hair and get a curly hairstyle. This means that you can change the way your hair looks any number of times. With the styling products available on the market today you are spoilt for choice, however selecting the right product is imperative. Sifting through the nearly hundreds of products can be a task. This guide should help you sort through the various commercial product categories.
Which hair styling products do you use? You have your choice of probably hundreds of different kinds of products, not to mention brands. It can be a mass of confusion just trying to figure out which styling products you should be using for your hair. When you go to the store, no matter what kind of store it is, you will notice that hair care products are endless, or so it seems.

Can you remember when hair spray was just hair spray? It seemed you had your choice of two strengths of hold. Now, you have your choice of different types of hair sprays, mousse, and gels. You have products that will make your hair literally stand on end! You also have your choice of products that will take the frizz right of your hair. Then, on the opposite end of the spectrum, if you have straight hair but want it curly, why not choose a curl booster gel or spray? Or go the other way and straighten that curly hair?

There are so many more options of hair styles with the hair styling products and hair accessories available to us. Well, to really get down to the "root" of the styling product chaos, you have to ask yourself a few questions, you have to find out what your real goal is with your styling products.

So, ask yourself some questions.

What kind of hold do I want? Do I want a light spray, that is non-sticky, minimal hold or do I need a super hold that will not budge even if the wind is blowing 50 miles per hour outside or you go down the highway in a convertible? If it is the latter, good luck!

Will you use many products to achieve your styling goal or do you just want one? You should think to yourself, am I trying to straighten my hair? Am I trying to make it curly? Do I want the product to protect my hair from the weather elements? Do I need it to work well with my hair coloring? What formula do I need? Do I need a gel? Do I need a spray? Do I need something solid?

If you thought you were done, think again, we are just hitting the top of iceberg in styling products. You can choose a variety of products for different types of hair achievements. For example, use a spray, gel, or mousse, if you are trying to add body or volume. If you want to create texture within your hair or make the current texture prominent, you will want to use pomade, balm, wax, or creams.

Regardless of how you want to style your hair, you no longer have to accept your hair for what it is. Using hair accessories and styling products, you can pretty much achieve any look you are going for!

Hair Growth and loss and causes for Loss.

Hormonal problems may cause hair loss. If your thyroid gland is overactive or underactive, your hair may fall out. This hair loss usually can be helped by treatment thyroid disease. Hair loss may occur if male or female hormones, known as androgens and estrogens, are out of balance. Correcting the hormone imbalance may stop your hair loss.

The normal cycle of hair growth lasts for 2 to 6 years. Each hair grows approximately 1 centimeter (less than half an inch) per month during this phase. About 90 percent of the hair on your scalp is growing at any one time. About 10 percent of the hair on your scalp, at any one time, is in a resting phase. After 2 to 3 months, the resting hair falls out and new hair starts to grow in its place.

It is normal to shed some hair each day as part of this cycle. However, some people may experience excessive (more than normal) hair loss. Hair loss of this type can affect men, women and children.

A number of things can cause excessive hair loss. For example, about 3 or 4 months after an illness or a major surgery, you may suddenly lose a large amount of hair. This hair loss is related to the stress of the illness and is temporary.

Many women notice hair loss about 3 months after they've had a baby. This loss is also related to hormones. During pregnancy, high levels of certain hormones cause the body to keep hair that would normally fall out. When the hormones return to pre-pregnancy levels, that hair falls out and the normal cycle of growth and loss starts again.

Some medicines can cause hair loss. This type of hair loss improves when you stop taking the medicine. Medicines that can cause hair loss include blood thinners (also called anticoagulants), medicines used for gout, medicines used in chemotherapy to treat cancer, vitamin A (if too much is taken), birth control pills and antidepressants.

Certain infections can cause hair loss. Fungal infections of the scalp can cause hair loss in children. The infection is easily treated with antifungal medicines.

Finally, hair loss may occur as part of an underlying disease, such as lupus or diabetes. Since hair loss may be an early sign of a disease, it is important to find the cause so that it can be treated.

Hair Care - Relaxed

Make sure you wash and condition your hair at least once a week. Its important to keep your scalp clean. Products you put in your hair can cause build-up, clog your scalp, and prevent your hair from growing.

Dont listen to others who say dont wet your hair. All of those people with relaxed hair who run away from water are the main ones with damaged hair. Water is GOOD for your hair. Water will NOT revert the hair(only chlorine free).

Also use a deep conditioner(egg, Soap Nut, Henna) to keep your hair moisturized and protect it from damage.

If you use a flat iron or curling iron, try not to use it too much, and when you do, make sure you use a heat protecting spray.

Stay Away from products that contain:

Mineral Oil
Petroleum
Alcohol
Laurel Sulfates (Try Natural Shampoos by Jason)

At night wrap your hair with a satin scarf. If you decide to swim cover your hair with a thick conditioner before diving in. When you are done swiming, rinse the conditioner out (and the chlorine), lightly shampoo(herbal is always better), and apply a deep conditioner. Your hair will be fine.

Another Secret to Grow Your Hair

The secret is the preparation part of the program. What this does
is prepare your scalp for the numerous techniques that will work
their magic in growing hair.

For days 1-8 you will dab and rub olive oil all over your head
before you go to bed. Sleep with it on your head the whole night
and shampoo it out in the morning. That's it. After the 8 days are
up, you won't use the olive oil again in any way.

So why do I have you do this? Well, excess sebum hardens and builds
layers of deposits on your scalp to choke off your hairs and make
growing hair extremely hard. What the olive oil does is it helps
break up those hardened layers and eliminate bacteria.

Remember. This is only a start.

This alone won't regrow hair for you. However, with this new
freedom, your hair is prepared to grow again for you. During those
first 8 days you will be doing all but one of the main techniques
in the program. The olive oil is just a temporary addition.

So if you decide not to buy the ebook, at least you can try putting
olive oil on your scalp for 8 straight nights to help neutralize
all the bad things building up in your hair and on your scalp.

Better yet, get the ebook and learn the rest of the program for
regrowing hair naturally:

Have you ever wondered why many more men lose their hair than women

do?

The crown (top) area of the head is covered by a thin membrane. In
the teenage years, the membrane is thin in both boys and girls.

As the years go by, the membrane usually starts getting thicker and
less elastic in men. This starts to put pressure on the blood
vessels feeding the hair.

Eventually this process chokes off the blood supply and kills the
hair roots because of lack of blood and oxygen.

Hormones, stress, poor nutrition, and hair care habits all
contribute to this thickening of the membrane in men.

This process is much less common in women.

The good news is that the thickening process can be reversed by
following the plan in "How to Naturally Regrow Lost Hair in 15
Minutes a Day". This will allow many of the lost hairs to
eventually grow back.

If you're tired of suffering, why not get started on the road
to recovery today?

After Color Hair Care

I often get approached by women who have had color treatments, permed hair, or straightening services and want to know the best way to care for their chemically-treated hair in order to restore its condition and preserve the new style or color. Naturally, I always suggest that the individual follow any and all instructions given them by their stylists, but in some cases, the individual has performed services herself and needs the advice.
So, here is some basic care advice for the most common chemical services:

After-Color Care

As with any chemical service, the components used in the coloring process can leave the hair more porous than it was prior to coloring the hair. This is because the alkaline products used to allow the color to penetrate the hair shaft, and deposit the color, do so by lifting the cuticle layer of the hair. While the processes are generally designed to be as gentle to the hair as possible, while still being effective, the results are still that the hair is typically swelled and the cuticle raised by the processing.
This means that while the hair is made better able to accept the deposited color, it is also more likely to lose moisture and can slowly lose the added color unless care is taken to reseal the cuticle.
This means that after you’ve colored your hair, you should take care to use a good moisturizing cream conditioner. This will help to maintain the hair’s moisture level, and will help to smooth the cuticle layer and ease any problems with porosity. This is especially true if you have used a high-lift color or bleaching agents to lighten the hair.
Additionally, if you have chosen a hair color that is particularly vibrant, such as many red shades or golden blondes, you will want to use a color-enhancing/color-preserving shampoo and conditioner formula in order to help keep your haircolor looking as rich as possible for as long as possible. Under normal circumstances, most of the more vibrant hair colors will gradually fade somewhat after regular shampooing and environmental stresses.
For most color-treated hair, I recommend a weekly deep conditioning treatment, in order to help rehydrate the hair and restore any moisture that may be lost during the week’s styling.

After-Texture Services
Chemical Texture Services, such as chemical straightening and permanent wave services can be even harsher on the hair than some color services, and therefore require that the individual take special care of her hair afterward. The chemical services definitely leave the hair in a much more porous state and the hair must be well-conditioned to keep it healthy and manageable.
In the case of some over-stressed hair, where there are signs of damage, you will need to use a protein-rich conditioner in order to help restore the strength and integrity of the hair while adding in much-needed moisture. Furthermore, since the hair’s cuticle layer is usually raised and left open by the chemical processing, you need to make sure to use a good smoothing serum, which will coat the hair shaft and help to smooth and seal the cuticle layer to hold in moisture and allow the hair to retain a smooth and silky feel.
When the hair is dirty, you need to shampoo it with a very gentle, moisturizing shampoo, and always follow it up with a hydrating conditioner. Remember, that you only need to shampoo the hair when it becomes soiled, in most cases, you can simply use a rinse-through conditioner to remove the amount of soil that accumulates on the hair on a daily basis. This serves the dual purpose of hydrating the hair and

Hair Care Tips For Men

Men need their hair trimmed more often than women do. Approximately every 4 weeks.
Some men look fabulous in gray hair but others fight it. If you getting gray hairs, try going back to your natural hair color you had in your younger years. If you have a beard, this also applies.
If you color your hair at home, always do a test strand, not only for an allergic reaction -- but for hue. The longer you leave the color on, the darker it will be.
"Just for Men" hair color is highly popular due to a great product and marketing efforts. Plus, the name gives you that macho feeling.
Try a semi-permanent hair color designed for men to find that perfect shade.
If you're balding, don't fight it. Stick with a short cut, or shave it all off.
Try a different salon if you're ready for a change. Both male and female stylists can give you some great ideas for color and style.
Coloring your hair swells your hair shaft and will make it appear fuller.

Hair Oil - A Need For Anyone And Everyone

Oiling ones hair is one of the most important things, if we want to take care of our hair. It is very necessary that hair is given proper treatment which would mean a massage with some of the most beneficial oils.

Having the right kind of oil for your hair is very important and so is oiling your hair. Many of us have a hectic schedule due to which, oiling and washing our hair holds the last priority. If you want healthy hair and one which lasts longer - oiling is the best remedy.

There are so many oils in the market which tells you tales about the benefits it provides. Before jumping in the bandwagon with others, check it from which company you are buying the oil. A trusted and known company is very important as there are many duplicates in the market.

Having good hair oil is not enough, eating the right kind of food also helps. Harmful foods such as canned and processed food which do not protect your hair instead damage it, should not be eaten. Fresh coconut is very good for your hair.

For beautiful and strong hair, massage your scalp with hair oil and leave it overnight. You can also use a steamed towel to cover your hair for half an hour for best results. This gives your hair a shiny and lustrous look.

Oiling your hair everyday would be too much to ask for. But do this at least thrice a week for beautiful hair. It does make a lot of difference if you keep doing this regularly as it is bound to show on your hair.

The massaging and oiling of your hair stimulates the blood circulation, which in return helps your hair. Due to the oil your hair is protected from the strong and hot sun rays. The oil also gives your hair that extra shine.

Some of the most popular and very beneficial oils which are being used for beautiful long hair with indefinite good qualities are

Jojoba Oil - can be used for dry hair as it helps to moisturize your hair properly. It helps to soften your hair and can be used to detangle your hair before shampooing.

Olive Oil - strengthens your hair and nourishes it due to inherent qualities it has. It helps to reduce stress and promotes the idea of healthy hair by providing elasticity to your hair.

Coconut Oil - is one of the oil which helps in the lubrication of the hair. The content in coconut oil like magnesium, potassium, calcium and iron happens to provide the best for your hair. It is very useful for damaged hair due to its ability to strengthen it.

Rosemary Herbal Oil - is very useful for the unwanted and flaky dandruff problems. Warm the oil slightly and apply it with the help of your fingers or cotton. Rub it well on the scalp and wrap with a hot towel.

Hair Care for To Be Moms

Ayurveda specialities to keep that famous pregnancy glow

Pregnancy can cause amazing changes to the body, skin and hair.stress and nutritional defencies can rob the body of essential vitamins and minerals, however, generally these conditions are temporary.

Mums to be may notice their hair is drier than normal, brittle, lacking in luster and in need of a boost. At this special time in a woman’s life extra care is needed to keep it strong ,shiny and healthy.

In the true ayurvedic tradition the hair was lavishly pampered, washed in Reetha(soap nut) mixed with amla and bramhi to nourish the hair follicles, massaged with previous herbal oils, the primary oil being sesame which was infused with fenugreek, bramhi and amla. Again very nourishing oils played a vital role in the health of the hair. At the home the oil was left in the hair overnight to encourage the oil and herbs to penetrate into follicles. Hair was washed and dried over incense so that the fragnance stayed in the hair for no of days. It is no surprise that women and children using this traditional method had such radiant, long and thick hair.

For hair any mum would be proud to show off. Ayurveda recommends twice weekly shampoo. Amla shampoo which contains soap nut soap pod and the purest herbs like amla, bramhi and shikakai for nourishment of the hair follicles. To close the pores and cool the scalp, use oil twice in a week.

Hair Styles

Choosing a hairstyle depends on various factors. An important factor is the shape of your face. Your life style is also a major element. If you wash, condition and style your hair every morning, a short cut may be best for you. If you have plenty of time for hair care you may prefer to wear your hair long. The distribution, quantity and texture of your hair, the curliness or straightness and your height are the other important factors for choosing a hair style.

Different hairstyles to suit the shape of your face

Round face

A round face will look best with hairstyles that add angles and helps conceal broad, round cheeks. For persons who have short hair, it is better to have a cut with most of the hair on top and less on sides. For long hair, an hairstyle with curls or waves surrounding the face will be better.

Square face

A square jaw and brow are best softened by a curly or wavy hair style that rounds off the angles of your face. Curls or waves worn forward on the outer edges of your face from your forehead will be more suited for a square face.

An oval face

An oval face can be enhanced by a variety of simple hairstyles. Your hairstyle will be most pleasing, if you wear it straight or slightly wavy. Short or long styles will look best when brushed or held back from your face.

Triangular face

The best hairstyle for this shape face are those worn away from your face at your forehead and temples and softly waved or curled around the jaws or those worn full at your temples, with straight or waved bangs across the width of your forehead.

DIODE LASER HAIR REMOVAL

Various factors such as medications, age, ethnicity, and hormone levels usually influence
body hair appearance. All these factors not only affect the length and coarseness but
also color of your body hair. Diode laser hair removal process offers a permanent and
safe solution by eliminating unnecessary or excessive hair.
Diode laser is a laser hair removal technique involving a laser beam where the active
medium is a laser diode. It is somehow similar to that found in a light-emitting diode.
Diode laser is sometime referred as injection laser diode. This is basically done to
distinguish them from optically pumped laser diode. Optically pumped laser diode is
produced in the laboratory. Alike other semiconductor devices laser diode is also formed
by doping a very thin layer on the surface of a crystal wafe.
Anyone suffering from excess body and facial hair generally search for the best remedies
and treatments. And the frequently asked question is ‘is diode laser hair removal
technique effective’? The answer is yes and diode laser hair removal has been confirmed
to work effectively for patients with surfeit hair problems. However, it takes several
diode laser hair removal sessions to tackle this problem of excess hair.
Diode laser hair removal treatment essentially, works by using a tapered laser beam
to burn and cauterize the problem hair follicles. It sounds very painful but in reality it is
not. You can experience mild discomfort for a short time but a little discomfort now is
surely worth a lifetime of smooth skin. The biggest advantage of diode laser hair
removal is that there aren’t any side effects you will experience. Moreover, you can
notice the change after your first session itself.
Diode laser hair removal technique has been widely researched, tested and proven
highly effectual in permanently eliminating unwanted hair. This permanent hair removal
technique works on any area of the body where you desire to have a smooth skin. It can
be underarms, face, neck, legs, shoulders, back, bikini line, you just name it.
Patients think that this diode laser hair removal treatment is very costly. This is not
true as it’s easily affordable. A successful course of treatment, however, should be
administered over several sessions. If you have decided to go for diode laser hair
removal treatment, the first step is to contact Advanced Laser Clinics.

Environmental Impact

To improve the hair health and further prevent issues with dryness and buildup, consider installing a shower head filter that will remove the minerals found in most city waters. Examine the packaging the filter comes in to determine that the filter also removes chlorine or chloramine (combination of chlorine and ammonia). One of these is often added to city water supplies for purposes of sanitation and is necessary for the health of the community. However hard water minerals and the sanitizing agent can also deposit on the hair and in time cause build up. Not all places in the world possess the same water quality. For example, many water supplies may contain too much sulphur which can be drying to the hair (clue is the aroma of the water); still others may have too much iron in the water (often noticeable if the water has a red hue to it although this can represent rust in any pipes). If using water from an unfiltered source, try to choose a water supply where the water has movement and flows, and does not possess any salt. Filtering water through very fine mesh cloth may help a trace amount to remove any larger deposits in the water. Many enjoy collecting rain water except in many parts of the world there now exists an issue with acid rain.

Those who swim in chlorinated or salt sea water may benefit from first wetting the hair entirely and then applying conditioner to completely swell the entire hair shaft. The idea is that less uptake of chlorine or salt may result which in turn helps to preserve the beauty of hair. Those who swim a lot may also benefit from the products on the market that remove chlorine after swimming in pool water.

Effects of Well Water/Hard Water: Domestic well water is ground water. The source of ground water is from rain passing through aquifers, which are layers of minerals. The acidity (pH below 7) of the rain increases the dissolving effect of minerals. These dissolved solids are found in the water when pumped above the ground and used to bathe.

The majority of ground (well) water is hard. The level of calcium that is found naturally from the ground determines the hardness of water. While calcium is the element that determines hardness of water, there are many other elements in well water that affect hair, scalp and skin.

While well water is fine for drinking, it can cause many problems for your hair, scalp and skin including hair that feels dry or damaged. It is resistant to color/highlighting, perming or relaxing/straightening. It's discolored by iron build-up (orange or rust color) or by copper build-up (blondes tint green, dark hair darkens). Hair lacks body and shine, is thinning or breaking, or color fades too quickly. Highlights turn "ruddy" or discolored. Perms fall out. Scalp is flaking, itching or inflamed. Scalp is dry. Symptoms of Dandruff/Eczema on scalp. Skin feels dry, skin flakes, and/or symptoms of eczema on skin.

What are the well water minerals that affect hair? Calcium, Iron, Copper, Magnesium, Silica and Lead

How do minerals found in well water affect hair?

How calcium affects hair: Calcium causes hair to feel dry and lack shine and volume. It can prevent the proper processing of color, highlights, perms or relaxer/straighteners and can cause a perm to appear relaxed. Calcium builds up on the scalp causing flaking of the scalp, giving the appearance of dandruff. Calcium can choke the hair at the mouth of the follicle causing the hair to break off, then coating the scalp, blocking further new hair growth.

How iron affects hair: Iron leaves hair feeling dry, brittle and weighted down. It causes lack of shine and can cause dark hair to tint darker and blonde hair to turn orange. Iron can inhibit the proper processing of perms, color, highlights, and relaxers/straighteners

How copper affects hair: Copper discolors hair causing blonde hair to turn green and dark hair to tint darker. Copper can weigh hair down and cause dryness, and can inhibit the proper processing of perms, color, highlights, and relaxers/straighteners.

How magnesium affects hair:’’ Magnesium causes hair to lack shine, feel dry, appear weighted down therefore lacking volume, and can inhibit the proper processing of perms, color, highlights, and relaxers/straighteners.

How silica affects hair:’’ Silica causes many of the same effects on the hair as calcium. It causes hair to feel dry, lack volume, and can cause dandruff-like symptoms of flaking. Build-up of silica can choke the hair follicle causing hair to fall out.

How lead affects hair: Lead can cause the hair to feel dry. Lead can prevent the proper processing of perms, color, highlights, and relaxers/straighteners.

Treatment for well water and hard water conditions are available in a variety of products, such as demineralizing shampoos and conditionersand from products such as Malibu 2000’s Crystal Gel Treatment. Visiting a local salon and speaking with a stylist can help identify corrective treatment for well water users.

How laser hair removal works

For many women and men, unwanted hair can be a nuisance…or even a nightmare. Until recently, removing it was uncomfortable, inconvenient, expensive and time-consuming. With the exception of electrolysis, which can be prohibitively expensive and painful, most other methods are temporary at best. But that has all changed. Today, with the remarkable advances in laser technology, unwanted hair is being removed safely and affordably. Laser Hair Removal has been extensively researched, tested and proven highly effective in permanently reducing unwanted hair. It works on just about any treatment area of the body where smooth skin is desired…underarms, face, neck, legs, shoulders, back, bikini line, you name it.

How laser hair removal works...

Hair grows in three distinct cycles. First, the active or growth cycle (Anagen); next, the dormant cycle (Catagen) and, finally, the fall-out or shedding cycle (Telogen). Laser Hair Removal is most effective during the growth cycle (Anagen).

The pigment in the hair follicle absorbs the laser light and converts the light to heat. The heat, in turn, damages the follicle and destroys its ability to re-grow. It is important to treat each follicle during the growth cycle for maximum hair reduction.

At Advanced Laser Clinics, your skin is compressed and cooled with the FDA-approved LightSheer™ Diode. Manufactured by Lumenis™, the nation’s leading manufacturer of aesthetic procedure equipment, the patented ChillTip™ cools before, during and after each laser pulse to protect your skin and make treatments more comfortable. A topical anesthetic is available if you experience any discomfort.

The laser pulses for just a fraction of a second, heating the hair follicle and impairing its ability to re-grow. Significantly less hair grows back with each treatment…ultimately resulting in your goal of permanent hair reduction. The number of treatments required varies from individual to individual.

Hair growth cycles differ on different parts of the body. Your skin and hair color, coarseness of hair as well as age, metabolism and other individual factors influence hair growth rate. Our experienced staff will work with you in designing a schedule to optimize your results.
